Jack and Kate: Where It All Began
A Recapitulation of the Love Story of LOST

Season Two continues to highlight the romantic intent, sexual tension, emotional and personal issues of two
people who seem to fight their intense feelings for each other more than they are willing to embrace them. As
Jack and Kate continue to work towards providing safety for the group through avenues they never thought they
were able to provide, the truth of just how much each means to the other sets in and becomes more of a reality,
a reality that is set into words as Kate confides in Jack, in less words than she meant to convey, just how lost
she would truly be without him. The moment is cloaked with quiet understanding and a muted love, love that
neither is brave enough to admit, an issue that they continue to battle from here on.

As Jack and Kate continue to establish their friendship, sexual tensions arise to new heights as they are
unable to quell their electric attraction to one another. From dinner dates by the fire, encounters in the shower,
flirtatious and playful golf tournaments, to being bound to close quarters in a net while alone on a mission, they
can't seem to stay away from each other, even as they are emotionally guarded from feeling what they truly
feel. The sexual electricity continues to spark like livewire as they spend more time together.

The most potent fuel that further feeds the fiery passion that Jack and Kate emit towards one another at this
point, is their emotionally-heavy and passionate first kiss in the jungle, a kiss that Kate initiates. The
emotions and sensations the kiss ignites are too much for Jack and Kate to bear, and as a result, they further
detach themselves from one other, creating a great stalemate between them, as they continue to side-step
their feelings for each other. Their personal shortcomings and past failures return to haunt them and further
stall their personal growth individually and as a collective.

As new discoveries are made of the Island they have called home since the crash as well as the introduction of
another group of survivors from the tail section of the plane, Jack and Kate's attention is focused on keeping
the group intact and allowing for the differing motives of certain survivors to be fulfilled without threatening the
security of the group as a whole. This task becomes more and more difficult as a new enemy introduces itself
and further threatens the defense of the group.

Jack finds himself encircled by the Island's earlier inhabitants as he and others attempt to locate one of their
own, who strayed willingly from the group into enemy territory. Jack involuntarily shows his true feelings as
Kate is caught by the enemy and is placed in the line of fire, when he vehemently requested that she not come
along on the dangerous mission. Unable to allow himself to get anymore emotionally-involved than he already
is, Jack removes himself and comes to another impasse with Kate, as she recovers and rebuilds her emotional
walls, as well as tries to recapture Jack's good graces once more.

As the newfound foe continues to make moves against the group, Jack and Kate are reunited as he relies on her
unwavering support in an effort to confront the rivals that remain unseen and untouched. On this journey toward
enemy territory, the romantic sparks that Jack and Kate try to suppress, return to wreak havoc on their
resolve. As they begin to come to terms with their suppressed emotions and allow them to seep through, they
come across one of their own who has been missing for some time, and they tend to the issues this discovery
creates. Upon this discovery, and the loss of two of their own, a suspected act of violence against them from
their puzzling adversaries, they develop a plan that is designed to finally take down the enemy that has
terrorized the group since the crash.

In an attempt to help one of their own, Jack and Kate, including other members of the group, find themselves
cornered by this baffling adversary as they realize that they were deceived and led into a trap that they,
together, try their best to fight their way out of, but are unable to. As their future lie uncertain and the danger
of their predicament accumulates, Jack and Kate look to each other for comfort, support and most of all, the
love that is always there, no matter the situation.
